Regal Signs and Graphics Steps –up The Pace With UNIFORM CADET

From the day it installed its 54-inch UNIFORM Cadet printer from digital print specialist PrintMAX, Regal Signs and Graphics hasn’t looked back.

“Already we can see how much time and money it has saved us,“ says Jan O’Rourke, Sales Director for the Hackbridge-based sign and graphics shop. “Prior to buying the system in November 2005, we were primarily working with cut vinyl in-house and outsourcing all our digital print requirements but the Cadet has really started to make all the difference.”

Regal Signs has been operating from of its Hackbridge premises for two and a half years now, although the Company has been involved in the business of signage and graphics for over eight years.

The company has a reputation for delivering what it promises and has a vibrant client list that includes Transport for London, Local Police Stations, Council Offices and are proud to be sponsors of Croydon College.

The arrival of the 54-inch UNIFORM Cadet print & cut system has broadened the company’s service portfoilo considerably. For example, one of the major jobs it has undertaken recently is a Wayfinder-type signage system for the vast Mayday teaching hospital in Croydon, which is currently undergoing major modernisation as well as new building work.

“There are over 130 departments at Mayday hospital“, says Jan. “We have designed and created a grid-based site plan. Every department has a grid reference that can be easily found on the two monoliths at the main entrance. There are 60 site and route maps all round the hospital, displaying ‘You are here’ signs to find your way round easily. Mayday Hospital are undergoing extensive refurbishment and as all signs are designed and saved, each time a department moves, they are easily edited and re-printed on our wonderful new CADET, making it a cost effective and manageable system.

Bringing the UNIFORM Cadet in–house has had considerable benefits for this company—helping it to operate far more efficiently and profitably. “This system has enabled us to keep our staff levels down. We find that we are using much less vinyl and therefore no longer need to keep large amounts of vinyl in-stock. Also, we can now produce corporate colours on the Cadet that vinyl could never reproduce and the beauty is we can do this all in-house.

“For example, one really lovely job we’ve done recently is vehicle livery for Kingswood Cleaning Co Ltd. We used the CADET to print out a very pastel mint green pantone colour to match the branding of their business stationary, as there was no vinyl equivalent, and the marketing impact for the business has been phenomenal. We have had more business from this job as a result of the impact this van has made.”

Jan had been looking for a digital printer for some time that could print banners, and vinyl with a good external life span and felt that with the UNIFORM Cadet, she had found exactly what she had been looking for. The company approached the London-based digital print specialist PRINTMAX after seeing ads in the trade press.

“ We are really happy with the service that Steve Guest and the staff of Printmax have given us. On delivery of the printer, we were given training in the use of the machine and the cleaning process necessary. If ever we have any queries, they have always been happy to help.”

Regal also buys substrates and inks from PrintMAX. “ We get a very good deal from the company for all our substrates. We use as a matter of course on this machine, paper, banner material and vinyl.

“We were pleased to be able to print a 10m long banner to be installed on scaffolding for the art deco Aerodrome Hotel in Croydon which is undergoing major renovation. “We have used the CADET to print an artist’s impression of what the Hotel is going to look like once refurbishment is completed. Again this is something that we just wouldn’t have been able to do six months ago ourselves. “

Jan concludes, “We have definitely made the right decision for our business buying the UNIFORM Cadet from PrintMAX. This machine is definitely a marker for our future. It is a step forward for us and already it is paying dividends.”
