Ian Hatfield and his business partner set up G4B four years ago and with a combined experience of over 20 years between them. You’d have thought that they would have been hard pressed to impress when buying their next large format print machine. You’d be right. It took the joint effort of leading distributor printMAX and leading manufacturer Roland DG, to get them to raise an eyebrow, let alone a purchase order, but they did it.
Ian explains, “Originally we were looking to get another cutter to work alongside our current one however we were fairly unhappy with the service we’d been getting from our previous printer supplier and were on the lookout for a company that could possibly replace them in the future.”
They discovered printMAX’s details through an advert and contacted their sales team to discuss the deals they were offering, especially on the print & cut hardware. After weighing up the economic pros and cons of the investment, and where this would fit in with their already impressive amount of large format equipment which included a HP Designjet 9000, two Designjet Z6100’s and a tried and trusted HP5500, they went for the Roland SolJet™ PRO III XC-540 print and cut system.
“It was a leap of faith really at first as although the deal was great on paper, we’d had no past dealings with printMAX and, as everyone will have experienced once in a while, teething problems can, and did, occur in the early stages, and we were unsure of what kind of service we’d receive in this event.” Ian continues.
There was nothing to fear however as G4B were over the moon with the speed and professionalism both Roland DG and printMAX responded to regarding the problems. G4B found that printMAX had obviously listened well to their requirements as the XC-540 answered a number of the company’s production problems, streamlining the process and improving production by installing such an efficient machine.
It also opened up new markets for G4B as, although they’re already a successful trade-printer supplying to many of the local sign companies, they can increase their services to offer smaller scale print jobs which historically had never been looked at due to cost effectiveness.
Ian concludes, “printMAX and Roland DG just got it right. We’re more than happy with the trade-in we received on our old machine and the service and knowledge we now have on hand from these guys makes our jobs and life easier, and business healthier!”
Michael Bolton, MD for printMAX adds, “We were delighted to have impressed such an experienced and established company such as G4B – to help grow our clients’ business is a key factor in our business culture. printMAX also aims to grow opportunities and profits for our customers through the printMAX Community; our innovative new system that opens up myriad possibilities for all printMAX business’ machines and in-house print and finishing system capabilities!”
